SQ*IRT supports healing for sex workers in the adult industries. Finding competent, sex-positive therapeutic support can be challenging in a world where sex work is stigmatized and criminalized. This groups seeks to affirm your decision to stay or leave the industry, while recognizing that SW is just one aspect of who you are.

SQ*IRT is for:

Folks seeking healing and support in a community of peers
Folks looking to share work experiences with folks who can relate
Folks seeking to be affirmed for their decisions to stay or leave their industry

Why did I start SQ*IRT? How can it help?

After years of supporting folks in the various adult entertainment industries as a psychotherapist I recognized the need for group-based healing modalities. I believe we heal in community.

Cross-community dialogue can lessen the sense of working in a vacuum, and increase understanding of our positionality within our industries. Being witnessed and finding resonance in shared experiences allows us to integrate healing on a social and emotional level.

As a solo-practitioner, group work allows me to offer support to more people in an accessible, sliding-scale model of care.

Folks working across the adult industries have much to offer one another; healing together can only make us stronger.

What is discussed in the group?

Topics of discussion are guided by the experiences of those in the group. Frequent topics of discussion in the past have included themes such as: client experiences, workplace dynamics, the impact of stigma and criminalization, challenges with social media, traversing personal and professional relationships, dating as a worker, raising children as a worker, safety concerns, how we relate to money, connecting to resources, traversing boundaries, recognizing burnout, appreciating the value of our labor, celebrating our successes, triumphs, and survival, and weaving of our personal narratives in community.

Each session starts with a short “grounding” exercise; a term used to mean checking in with your body, an invitation to this present moment with one another. Each person then has the opportunity to check-in with the group and share challenges being facing this week. Therapeutic guidance and education about healing trauma is offered in each session.

What is the 5 point model?

The group rests on a foundation of five points that show up thematically in each session:

self love through body-based awareness, learning how to identify and connect with peer support, increasing confidence in creating supportive boundaries, contributing to sustainable growth as professionals, and connecting to the community value of our efforts.

Will my information stay private?

In service of creating a clear container for participants in PROs, folks use neither legal names nor work names, to have the opportunity for gaining peer support among other sworkers, without concerns of workplace politics or competition. Any digital information regarding the nature of your work is stored in an encrypted, HIPPA compliant database.

When and where does the group meet?

We meet weekly in the afternoons on Tuesdays (PST) in monthly cycles in closed, anonymous, virtual groups. Stay for one month or several, decide at the third week if you’ll continue.

Each session lasts for 60 minutes.

How much does the group cost?

The group costs $420-$780, sliding scale. Billing is monthly. If the group sounds like a fit for you but you’ll face financial hardship accessing it, please reach out to me via the contact form for the most up to date information on available scholarships.

This group offers a therapeutic container in which to heal as a community.
